County Coaching open to all!!!

Posted by Martin Ross on September 26, 2016 at 6:35 PM Comments comments (0)

Hi All

Just a quick one from the county in regards to excellent coaching opportunity for you all both Juniors & Seniors please see the below, if you are interested please respond back to Tim who’s email address is contained in the details.

Don’t tell me tell Tim if you are interested I’m there to assist not the admin side? All joking aside if you want the help this will help develop you as archers Juniors & Seniors. All bow sytles!!

Would you please forward this email onto your club members, particularly your junior reps or junior members. Last year's sessions were very well attended by junior archers and everyone gained a lot from them. This year the programme has been extended so there will be 2 sessions, one for juniors and one for seniors. This programme has proved its worth and I recommend it to your club members.

Please email Tim Bull [email protected]

Following the successful junior coaching sessions provided by NCAS over the past few years we have been asked if the County can provide similar sessions for senior archers.

We would be hoping to hold 5 coaching sessions between November 16 and April 17. We would need your commitment to each of the sessions (am Juniors) / (pm Seniors).

For Archers, both the Senior and Junior Coaching sessions will be aimed at the intermediate archer looking to improve technique and performance. The sessions will include strength & conditioning, bow set up / bow tuning, technique and the mental approach.

The sessions will be open to all bow styles.

There will be a cost to archers for these sessions and NCAS will be providing a subsidy but until numbers are known the actual cost cannot be determined.

If you would be interested in reserving a place please contact the below with the following details.

ARCHERS PLEASE READ

Posted by Martin Ross on August 30, 2016 at 8:05 PM Comments comments (0)

Hi Archers

Please read the below and the attached any further question please direct them to me either by mail or call me I will be more than happy to explain further.

As from midnight 30/08/2016 the target that is currently of the embankment next to the ‘PRACTICE’ boss is not to be used by any member, this is due to arrows that have been found in the sign in the warehouse across the Newham Hill road. This target will be removed shortly until the safety has been re addressed at the point we as a committee have agreed it falls within the governing bodies safety regulations.

This is for the safety of the users of the road until we as a club address this myself and other members of the field party have discussed this further anyone found to flounder this ruling will be dealt with appropriately, we all have a part to play in the safety of our sport not just those members of the committee.

I currently have the arrows in question and will be discussing the matter with the archers personally.

At this point I have to say thank you to the Rugby Club who have brought this to my attention and have been in talks with the owner of the factory.

The attached Document is a reminder of some of the points that as archers of the club you are required to remember.

A Key point for us is to log missing Arrows

See the following section.

If you are to miss we are required to keep a record to show that we as a members are aware of our own and others who use the facility at Western Avenue.

Again we I need to be made aware of any missing arrows either on the field course or on the practice butts.

When logging a missing arrow’s we will require the following details.

• Archer

• Make & Model of arrow

• Colour Nocks

• Fletchings

• Which target

o Field Course which target no 1,2 etc

o Practice butts

 Embankment

 By the container

 90m

 Embankment opposite Carpark

• An idea where it has gone

o Low , Left High etc..

Failure to log missing arrows found at a later date will be dealt with accordingly.

Arrows on the field may be found by the rugby players have to be logged with the Rugby Club so they are also aware of their players safety.

We as a club have a great facility but we can also easily loose it.

Regards

And for those of you who are going for your level 1 coaches certificate this will give you an extra opportunity to get your practical hours up!! and may teach you a few things? if you are wanting to help please contact Tim on the email address at the bottom of this.

NCAS Junior and Senior Coaching 2016 / 17

Following the successful junior coaching sessions provided by NCAS over the past few years we have been asked if the County can provide similar sessions for senior archers.

In principal, we would be delighted to do so but we need to gauge the level of interest from coaches and both senior and junior archers before we can proceed.

Within this format we are also hoping to develop our County's coaches. There will be opportunity for less experienced coaches ( those entering level 1 coaching and recently qualified level 1 coaches) to work alongside more experienced coaches from both inside and outside our county.

''I would like to say what a brilliant time we had last weekend. Great Fun, Great people, well run and more importantly brilliant catering staff.

Tim, Alex and myself will most certainly attend the next one. A big thank you.

I wondered if you may be able to forward a copy of the results please? It is nice to see any progress and how much better we need to be?

Thanks again and we look forward to seeing you again.

Kind regards, Andy Wilkes.''

Junior County Coaching

Posted by Martin Ross on May 13, 2014 at 6:25 PM Comments comments (0)

Hi All

Just to let you know what's going on relating to the junior county coaching in Northamptonshire it is going to be revamped. Further details are to follow I currently have the first draft of the document for those member's who are interested in what's being proposed.

Pat Comber will be sending out details to the current coaches so they are aware of what's being proposed.

Along with the new structure of how the coaching will be delivered Tim Bull has asked if there are any coaches who are willing to give up there time to help assist with the new format.

For the juniors there will be a more structured format to the sessions currently looking at holding 6 session each being 4-6 hours.

Again if any one is interested or would like to know more please get in touch or ask one of your club coaches for further information.

New Records at the David Clarke Memorial

Posted by BobSki on February 6, 2014 at 5:20 AM Comments comments (1)

The Duston Bowmen’s David Clarke Memorial Trophy, a triple (Worcester/Vegas/Portsmouth) Held on Sunday 26th Jan 2014 saw some new records made. Will Ross scored a very impressive 498 Portsmouth round with his compound and claimed both a new County and Club record. Will was the previous holder of both records with a score of 495 so he has made it that bit harder for anyone else to wrest it from him.

Alex Ross, not to be outdone by Will, ended with a Portsmouth score of 430 with his Recurve bow. Alex is now in the under 14yrs category and his score takes the under 14yrs club record from W. Jordan who had held it since 2006 with a score of 401.

Well done and congratulations to both lads.

Competition success for 2 LBAC archers and a new club record

Posted by BobSki on December 3, 2013 at 7:30 AM Comments comments (1)

Sunday 1st December saw TargetCrafts 7th Annual Portsmouth competition.

Martin, Alec, Will Ross and Bob Skidmore attended from LBAC, with both Martin and Will doing particularly well, taking second place in their respective disciplines.

Will also carded a club record for the Under 12 Compound Portsmouth.

Bob and Alec put up a commendable show but on this occasion did not bring home any medals.

Well done to all and it's great to see some LBAC archers putting our club on the tournament map.
